Cathryn Mezzo is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist whose practices include fiber art, illustration, photography, graphic design, painting, writing, and theater design. Cathryn has a BFA in graphic design from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She maintains an art practice in her studio on Long Island from which she has created several bodies of work including: Hair-Raising Thoughts: Read My Mind — a weekly blog which became an illustrated series exploring life as a mother in suburbia, Unexpected Visitors — a second illustrated series self-published as a zine entitled, COLOR: A Coloring Zine for Grown-ups Living Outside the Lines, Feeling Blue — a collection of cyanotypes documenting plant life on Long Island, and I’m not afraid of…, a children’s book she wrote, illustrated, and developed with psychotherapist, Dr. Susan Grossman. In addition, Cathryn is owner/president of Mezzo Art + Design, LLC, a boutique studio specializing in branding.

Cathryn’s essay, “Finding Home,” was published in Bella Grace magazine’s premiere issue and her essay, “The Beautiful Game,” was published as part of the magazine’s blog hop. The same publisher also featured her fiber art package design in Willow and Sage magazine. She is currently working on a young adult novel, Barrette Girl and a visual memoir entitled, You Can Build Your Own Cathedral.

Cathryn lives on Long Island with  John, her husband of 32 years, and enjoys visiting her son, Zachary, a composer living in Brooklyn.
